Final Critiques Day 2

"The things they carried" by angeline
I really enjoyed the sound track. Seems like alot fo people are finding or making some really nice composures.
The concept is interesting about people and what they carry. I know I used to carry TONS of stuff in my backpack/purse.
But it's alot different now as a college student because when I'm on campus, I'm stuck here. So I definitely bring less and only what I need. And maybe things that I might need. But I don't really bring crap any more.

Sylvia "Unheard tracks"
It's kind of interesting. MY favorite part was the dings and the cars on the freeway.
And if the pieces could be longer that would have been cool. I also really like the people walking and the different sounds in the different quadrants.

Clarence "Living Room Time Lapse"
This video has me confused. He was trying out time lapse. Made 3 separate ones, and layered them.
I'm not a fan of the silence. I would probably add sound to the things he did.

Saba
Not sure how I feel about SO much talking with no video.
I don't like how the recordings have no video to them. She could have at least had some kind of plain shots.
I did really enjoy the person who recited the poem.
I felt like it proved her point very well. By making it personal, it made it more interesting and not just facts.

Chris & ?? - Zetta Kappa
Very well composed and shot. It was dark, but I saw a little online and it was not as dark at all.
It was pretty well written, acting was not bad at all. The music and sound effects were great.
Especially all the sound effects of them hitting the zombies and stuff. People get so bored they turn into zombies or people get so into studying they turn into zombies.
Looked pretty professional. I really enjoyed it.

Cindy - Light Bodies
This is a very experimental video. Makes me think of aliens. I didn't like the text cause it takes away from the image because I have to try and read it while the pretty image is going on.

Ahhh!! Aaron is still not here and he has the video!!!!!! We can't show nothing!!!

Soching
I really like the music and the concept. This projector is lammmmmeee!!!
Very interesting how she created the stop motion. The reversing effect was pretty cool. Definitely kept my attention and I had no idea what was going on in the part where he burns the letter, until it was played backwards.

Aaron & Gracie - Bum life
People thought it was composed well.
Cindy really liked it. She knew someone like that. Made during a budget crisis, which went well. She liked the cuts.
Chris thinks the story was good. Could have used better camera/sound equipment.
We experimented with movement with the camera, but the shots didn't turn out the way we wanted it to.
If extended:: Bringing in idea that Niel never asked the bum about the issue at hand.
Same thing happening to Niel. Chris says it could be re-written to be a feature.

4K PROJECTSSSSS

Nick
SOOO cooool!!!!! I love the way the videos crash into each other. And when all the pieces swirl around the sun.
They are lost in the internet universe. The black hole of the internet!!!
I really enjoyed it and thought it was awesome. Would be cool to have the 0 view videos hit the popular videos and crash, while the popular videos live.

Chelsea
Pretty awesome piece. I loved that I could tell what movies most of the lines were from.
The gender flips were interesting. It made the concept feel different. The flipping of geners makes it awkward a little bit.

Final Critiques Day 1

Andy-
I really enjoy the music. He edited it and chopped it a little bit, but it still sounds really good the way he mixed it.
The images are also very nice and I just find pixel moshing very interesting because I've only seen it a few times before.
It's beautiful in its own way.
Remixes were playing at the same time as the original. Seems to be a very confusing way of how Andy put it together.
But it turned out really well and I personally really enjoyed it.
Seems like mots the people in the class enjoyed it.
Pixel Moshing is confussssinnnnggggg!!

Katy + Vanessa
Second Life
Glitching. Seems interesting from what we've seen. I'm really enjoying the music. It matches well with what's going on.
Video over lapping is really cool. Especially how her second life character walks up to the real life her.
Very dramatic lighting along with the overlapping of the second life images coincide really well together. I liked this better than when they talked about their final before it was made. I really enjoyed it.
The ending was maybe a bit over dramatic, her killing herself Mostler merged by overlay. They used one scene with projection.

Natasha
Photographs made into a movie.
Parts where it sees what her eyes see.
Mixing realities with memories.
Sounds was very good. It matched the video very well.
She used library walk, and granted it's seen in many students projects, it still fits very well and it actually makes sense because library walk is always full of people and she's all by herself.
I really like the part where the girls is looking at her photos, and the photos were all inviting her in.
The ending leaves the viewer guessing and wondering if she goes into her memories or not.
I really enjoyed it because I love photography, so it's interesting to see how people incorporate photos into videos because it's not often when it happens.

Kendall
Stop motion flip book.
Music went fairly well with the movements and such. It's a creative idea to turn a flip book into stop motion.
Really enjoyed it.

Production of Final

Yesterday Aaron and I shot all day.
We didn't come across many problems, other than the fact that his shot gun mic needed and adapter to hook up to my iphone.
So we couldn't find a way to connect the two. So we just used the shot gun on Aaron's camera.
We took many different angled shots of each scene, and there will be different shots put together.
The actors acted very well. They are friends with Aaron from the musical he is in this quarter, so they have acting experience.
I told Aaron that he is lucky that he knows alot of theather students because alot of Media students don't know alot of theater students and end up having to use friends who've never acted before.
We spent all day shooting basically, from 11 to 5. It was alot to do!!
I think the point in our video comes across very well. And after editing it will be pretty clear.
There were two scenes that couldn't be recorded yesterday, so Aaron is shooting with the actors today.
I couldn't meet up with them because I had class.
We are meeting early on Tuesday to look at editing and color correction.
I have alot of experience color correcting, so hopefully I can put it to use on his editing system, Premiere.
I use final cut 10, so I have no idea how to use Premiere.
But I guess we will see.
I'm glad we are going on Thursday.

Final Video Update

I have no idea how to find and copy MTV videos from the internet, so I'm not to sure my idea will work.....
Or maybe I can use some of these if I can find enough footage. with Janelle and her mom.
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=teen+mom+2+episodes&oq=teen+mom+2+episodes&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=224l7085l0l7422l19l19l0l11l11l0l84l613l8l8l0

Hmmm, yea, none of those videos work because Youtube sucks!!!

Idea for Final Prject

I've been thinking about making a beat/music out of videos on the internet.
More so I'd like for it to have to the with a show on MTV called Teen Mom 2.
One of the girls moms on the show has a really annoying voice, and the way she says different words is funny.
So I was thinking about taking the media off the internet, hopefully using keepvid.com and making it into a music/beat type thing.
I have never tried to make a mix video like this, and I have Final Cut Pro 10, which is different from 7, which is what I'm used to working on, so, I'm not sure exactly how it will work, if it will be easy or difficult.
I haven't looked, but I'll try and see what type of footage I can get online.

Final Project.

DIY 4k + Final Project

4k is a huge size with crisp images.
You can create your own 4k by using 4 different sets of footages. Tile images.
Stop Motion animation.
I'm not sure if I want to work with 4k because it seems to slow my computer down alot, but I could do it easily with my DSLR.
Upscaling can work, but might not be he best idea.
March 6th, work in progress to show in class.
Finals due week 9.

Day 2 3D Critiques

Team black::
The glows lights were cool, I think they looked cool because they moved so fast, so you couldn't see any ghosting.
Another effect I really liked was when they put the glowing finger tips on the dancer. I thought it was successful. The 3D portion showed a little more because the dancer as on the plane and the glowing finger tips were infront of the plane.
But I don't feel like the music coincided at all with what was going on in the images, other than the techno and the glow finger tips coinciding a little bit because they are both in raves. But even the hand gestures and dancing didn't go with any kind of beat to the music.

Team A:: "Replica"
The colors are really awesome in 3D. I felt the strongest shot was during the scene with the wine glass full of yellow water and then they drop in the blue and red. That scene was extremely successful in 3D and was quite awesome.
The music went very well with the scenes. It was very melodramatic and it just fit perfectly with the slow motion of the water and colors swirling around. Also it may have been kind of cool for them to play around with the reflections from the glass, because sometimes you can see a little bit of movement from the reflections. Or that might make it more distracting.

3D video critiques Tuesday the 21st.

Team ::
Used fire and water. Elements.
Colors were enjoyable, but I wish they had been poured into the jar in a way which have changed the color of the water slightly. Ex. They used orange and blue to pour into the big jar first, those colors together make a gross color.
The candles were a more interesting scene, visually and musically.
Depth was easily scene.
Not supposed to use white in 3d.
Sound worked well, but could have used some b-roll, instead of having just the notes out of nowhere.

Team Batman::
Idea: Hallway, converging points. We tried to keep the main person in the convergence plane.
Critique:
Ending was strongest part. A little ghosting and instability.
Nailed the theme. Good job at keeping the convergence.
Not have so many repetitions. Consistent humor.
People like the zombie idea.
Scenes composed very well.
Could have been animated. Reminded her of Doug. Reminded someone else of 500 days of Summer.
Audio: Good, light hearted.

Editing 3d in Vegas

Sony Vegas is not our friend. The previews were very choppy and made the video look like it was stop motion.
Sometimes vegas would even stop playing the preview even though it looked like it kept going on the little que area.
We are trying to get the music that Andy made to put on the video. We aren't completely sure, at this moment, how to delete the audio from the footage and use something else. But I'm sure we will be able to figure that out.
Aaron understand Vegas more than the rest of us.
We are now trying to flip the image because we want Aaron to look like he is continuing the same way. We want it to look like he keeps walking through a bunch of hall ways and we only filmed it one way, so we are trying to flip the video the make it look more like what we want.
So now we are hoping that flipping the video will not mess up the 3d. But we will need to try it with the 3d glasses.
Vegas is not a fun program. It takes forever and I like Sony, but dear god.... I bet they have other 3d laptops that have more ram and stuff that make them go faster. They probably just gave UCSD really slow ones that they decided they were ok with parting with.
We are going to also add text for the title. We want it to be on a certain plane so that it doesn't hurt eyes in 3d.
Rendering take forever. Oh the joys of rendering and how interestingly boring it is. Yay for rendering!
Flipping it apparently messes it up. It made the background look like the foreground and it was really weird. So now we have to flip it back around, which kind of sucks.... But whatever.
Now we are trying to import the music that Andy made.
We had to use my computer and put the music on a thumb drive because the 3d laptop would not download it. We don't know why, probably because the computer was too busy running Vegas.
But we got the music on the 3d laptop and put it to the video, and it goes really well together.
Our video is pretty good. It looks like we will finish within class time!

Filming in 3d

Filming in 3d is very interesting because you have to set the point in which everything is flat.
As we filmed our video Andy set that point.
We tried to make it so that as Aaron moved, the camera stayed the same distance away so that things infront of him were close and then as he passed them it went into the deeper background.
We had people (Kendall, me, Clarence & Clarences girlfriend) pop out of other hall ways and bump into Aaron.
We took 3 different shots so that is looks like Aaron is continuing down hallways.
In each shot something is a little different and then at the end, after putting up with all the crap he's doing to the people he's passing, they start to follow him cause they are pissed off.
I believe our project will turn out pretty cool. It probably won't be Sony material, but it's still awesome to work in 3D and try it out.
Using the bloggie is alot of fun as well. We incorporated the bloggie by having Aaron carrying around the bloggie and using it at the same time as we shot using the 3d cam.
Now it's time to edit using Vegas. I'll write another blog about that,

Project #1 DIY

My idea for project number one follows some of the funny viral videos on youtube and facebook at the moment.
I would like to do a video that involves "Shit doggy moms say".

My video would be edited in similar ways of these videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-yLGIH7W9Y
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6LcXJQDhds

I'm a doggy momma, and my puppy is seriously my baby. I know I would be able to come up with multiple things doggy parents say because it's what I say to my dog everyday.

Ex.

Saying "Good girl" in different settings
Saying "Who's da cutest puppy in the world?? You're the cutest puppy in the world"
Saying "Elliiiiiiiieeeee" in a really high pitched voice.
Saying "Well don't you look cute in your spotted suit" (black suit/white suit/brown suit)
Saying "Ellie, what are you doing???" in an accusing voice
Yelling "Ellie!!! Ellie!!! Ellie!!! LEAVE IT!!! ELLIE I SAID LEAVE IT!"
Saying "Hey little monster"
Saying "Hey little bean"
Saying "Hey little stinky dog"
Saying "Hey Princess"
Saying "Hey Ellie Monster"
Saying, "Hey Precious"
Saying "Hey babygirl!"
Saying "Well hello!! It's so good to see you too!!"
Saying "Do you love momma?? You better love da momma"
Saying "That was the naughtiest thing I have ever seen!!"
Saying "Don't you be a brat, no one likes a brat dog."
Saying "I love you soooooooooo much!"
Saying "YOU ARE SUCH A BRAT!!!"
Saying "Bad dog!!"
Saying "I'm gonna squish you forevvverrrr"
Saying, "Don't be mean, no one likes a mean dog."
Saying, "You better go potty this time!"
Saying "I just took you out!"
Saying "No begging!"
Saying "Awwww, look at da baby!!"
Saying, "How'd you get to be so cute?"
Saying, "Ellie May!" Accusingly
Saying "Finely Catherine!"
